The Silver Lining…

Thursday, September 20, 2007

Unfortunately, our busy production schedule has included too much of this:

But this week’s trip to Los Angeles had, indeed, a silver lining.
After shooting was done, a very grateful producer/director was able to meet some very special people in Old Town Pasadena for dinner.

First, he got to see the Andre children (his nieces and nephews), the first four who are pictured below…

For number 5, four year old Luke, the excitement caught up with him…

And for number 6, well, the producer/director will just have to wait a little longer…

But he sure was happy to visit with his brother and sister in law, Scott and Ashley Andre, who are a great blessing to the Carpenter family.  We’re thankful for the network of friends — and family! — who are building God-honoring families around the U.S.  And we’re thankful that production travels often include visits such as this one!

ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Their Dad made Inherit the Land, a film about families on agrarian adventures…

They tagged along for a good portion of the shooting…

They contacted a trusted source, the Keith Bradshaw family, upon their return home…

And as of a few days ago, they too have joined the adventure…

Inherit the Land is available for pre-order at the end of this week.

You may want to pick up a few round bales, too.

A Little Place in the Country

Friday, September 7, 2007

The Dave and Pam Pierce family recently uprooted from Scottsdale, Arizona, and moved to perhaps the most beautiful 25 acres in Tennessee — for the purpose of raising their children in a God-honoring environment. They recently allowed us to shoot portions of our host segments for Inherit the Land on their new property, which turned into a homeschool lesson in film production for the four eager students from the Pierce family. And in true homeschool fashion, they pitched in and helped carry things, too! Inherit the Land will be available for pre-order within the next two weeks.

Production Improv 101

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

It’s always fun to utilize resources such as cranes and jibs and dollies.  D.P. Mark Schlicher eagerly waits for the dolly grip to commence the move below…

But we don’t always have the luxury of a fully stocked grip truck on a shoot…

So we need to reach into our creative bag of tricks to simulate a maneuver…

And with a little ingenuity, Mark and Cole have given the shot a whole new dynamic…

In our forthcoming Young Filmmakers DVD, we’ll explore many means by which independent production can achieve great results - even without all the tools of the trade.
