Our travel with Compassion International to Peru this week has exposed us again to the warmth and generosity of Christians in South America. Trips to Ecuador the last two years were rich in fellowship; this trip has been no different. The children have continued to enthusiastically welcome us…
They’ve performed for the group Compassion put together for this trip…
Security has never been too far away…
And perhaps the most rewarding time has been home visits. Below, Leigh and Shelley from Point of Grace visit with Shelley’s sponsored child. The time of sharing with the father and the other siblings in the home about the critical value and worth of family, and the concluding prayer with the family is an experience those of us present will never forget.
We’re shooting some very difficult circumstances…
But we’re also capturing the difference Compassion International is making in the lives of so many children.

Learning About the Ancient Peruvian Inca Empire…
...on a catch-as-catch-can basis.
Our production schedule took us to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean a few days ago. But today found us overlooking the Pacific Ocean…
But this wasn’t a regular run-out-to-California shoot. Below, we’re with part of the local staff of a dynamic work in Lima, Peru.
The slogan of Compassion International translates to “releasing children from poverty - in Jesus’ name”.
The Peruvian children at a Compassion project in the hills above Lima welcomed us warmly…
And for the next several days, we’ll be documenting the life-changing ministry that happens at Compassion projects in Peru.
We’ll continue to visit homes such as the one we did today…
And we’re certain to meet more interesting people in the streets…
But most of all, we’ll enjoy our time with the precious children whose lives are being wonderfully changed when they’re sponsored by an individual or family through Compassion International…
You can catch the melodic harmonies and inspiring story of The Peasall Sisters: Family Harmony on television this week as part of our 13 episode Franklin Springs Family Hour television series. The show airs each Wednesday night at 9:00 (EST) on the NRB Network and on Saturday at 7:00 (EST) on Sky Angel. Watch a trailer for Family Harmony and read about the Peasall Sisters here…
Two families.
One editor in from Los Angeles.
One thirteen inch MacBook.
35 rough-cut minutes of the Nathan Clark George adventure story (which will accompany the concert shot last Saturday evening).
Lots of laughs and encouragement - coming in December…
Our whirlwind production trip through the Northeast concluded with a day in the nation’s capitol.
Photography continued on a new episode of the Joni Eareckson Tada television show.
This episode includes Charles Colson, former Chief Counsel to President Richard Nixon, and founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries.
Mr. Colson spoke eloquently about the necessity of a doctrinally-sound Christian worldview - in contrast to society’s increasingly prevalent advocacy of infanticide, eugenics, genetic engineering, and other contemporary assaults on the sanctity of life.
One young production intern gleaned a great deal on this shoot…
And after traveling through 10 states over a several day period, shooting on the Mall was a perfect conclusion to a highly productive trip…
Our production trip to the Northeast also included an especially rewarding day of shooting…
Our forthcoming film about Family Worship doesn’t address a new phenomenon…
The families aboard the Mayflower knew the importance of building strong foundations - within their homes…
And no, this photo of production intern Cole and a young lady from Scrooby notwithstanding, we did not procure any footage for our future film on the topic of courtship…
Look for our Family Worship film - including scenes from Plymouth, MA - in early 2009.
Shooting continued the last several days on two ongoing Franklin Springs projects:
In upstate New York, we had an invigorating shoot at Holden Coal for our forthcoming Family Business DVD (about family entrepreneurship).
And then several hours South, Director of Photography Mark Schlicher and camera assistant Cole boarded a subway bound for the Bronx as part of our project on Family Worship…
The Wes Guzman family provided a beautiful picture of a family making worship in their home a high priority - in the heart of New York City. Stay tuned for updates about other families participating in this exciting project.
Camera operator Mark wanted to steady this long lens shot on the campus of Princeton University today (for a new episode of the Joni Eareckson Tada television show). But as he and the tripod were separated from one another (and the producer was declaring an end to the b-roll shooting - which could have lasted the entirety of this picturesque Autumn day), Mark did the perfectly reasonable thing and employed a New Jersey parking meter as a substitute tripod. Back at the hotel, it was determined that the shot looked magnificent. Below, the producer’s son looked on - and picked up a few more tricks of the trade.
