We posted the other day about the recent Time Magazine article dealing with single child households.

The article essentially asks readers to consider the benefits of choosing a single child household; we asked you to send in pictures that celebrate the fun and beauty of sibling relationships. Here are a few more that recently arrived…

Four Thousand Words
Tuesday, July 27, 2010
If the adage is true that a picture says a thousand words, we like the first four thousand words shared by readers who responded to the post below.
To those who posted comments about families with one child: we absolutely concur that a family blessed with one child is no less a family than one with an overflowing quiver. The point of our post - and these pictures - is to offer a reminder of the beauty of sibling relationships. The media seems to typically portray siblings as being continually at odds; in the case of the Time Magazine article referenced below, the notion is set forth that the absence of siblings may actually be preferential for both the parents and the single child. We just want to weigh in (a thousand words at a time) with another perspective…

Siblings, Anyone?
Tuesday, July 27, 2010
We walked into Gelson’s Market in Old Town Pasadena last week and were greeted by this magazine cover:

The article is basically a defense of the single child family. While we of course agree that a family who is given one child should celebrate and embrace family life as fully as every family, we are very much of the opinion that children (plural) are a blessing from the Lord, and of the many family riches He bestows, the relationship between siblings is uniquely rich.
It’s challenging for any humans to exist in close proximity, no doubt. But the rewarding closeness forged between siblings makes us want to set forth images that support a viewpoint different than the one propagated in the article above.
A picture says a thousand words, right? We’re not sure who’s happier in this arrangement, the big brother or his baby sister. But here’s a thousand words to get us started:

Do you have a picture that captures the joy and beauty found in sibling relationships? If so, we’d like to post some of these images in coming days. Join us by sending your sibling stills by clicking here.
Let’s tell a different story…
Waller World
Saturday, July 24, 2010
The frequent inquiries continue: “when are you going to do a follow up on the Waller family?”.
Since we traveled to Israel with the Wallers several years ago to film segments of A Journey Home, the Waller family has continued to travel back and forth to serve farmers in “The Land”.
Tommy is home in Tennessee for several days before returning to Israel, and we sat down with him on Friday to shoot an update interview, which will appear as a bonus feature on the forthcoming re-release of A Journey Home. He talked about the wedding of Brayden (his oldest son), becoming a grandfather, the challenges and victories of being a fully-engaged father, and much more.
We’ll look forward to sharing more about the exciting world of the Wallers soon…
