Inherit the Beef

In September of 2007, we reported on certain sons who, having recently returned home from filming Inherit the Land with their father, persuaded said father to step into their inaugural livestock agrarian adventure:  a couple of Black Angus calves.

Time wore on, and the calves grew (as did the boys)...

Temperatures fell, and their coats thickened…

Just in time…

And today, a little over a year and a half later, the grown steers were lured into the barn…

Perilously persuaded to enter a trailer (finally!)...

And were, at long last, ready to leave the farm…

While the sight of the handsome four legged beasts will be missed in the fields (at least until new calves arrive), the three growing boys displayed no signs of sadness.  Their eyes are fixed on the provision that will fill plates around the family meal table in a just a few days.

“Well done, sons!”, proclaimed the father, very thankful for the lessons his sons learned along the way - and the meals his family and friends will be enjoying just around the corner…
