The Stand In

Work continues on the “Joni and Friends” television show. The initial order of 13 episodes are nearly complete, with editing being completed now on a special two part episode about Terri Schiavo and the circumstances surrounding her death by starvation and dehydration after the court ordered removal of her feeding tube.

Below, Cole stands in at the mark for Joni Eareckson Tada’s end point for one of her host segments for the show. The gaffer (lighting director) uses a stand in to check the light levels at various points in a camera move.

Cole has had the benefit of learning both on the technical side of producing a television show, as well as the business side. Below, he evidences having learned how to dress like the show’s executive producer…

The Impact of Film

Well, we’re not really certain that we can attribute it to the film. But after months of shuttling between edit rooms in Los Angeles and Nashville to edit Still Standing: The Stonewall Jackson Story, and not too long after having masterfully cut together sequences that include scenes detailing Jackson’s fierce love for his family, Joel took for the East coast to take his own bride.

Below, Joel stands proudly next to Martha, his ‘esposita’ (Jackson’s moniker for his beloved Anna), surrounded by the children of the film’s director. Next to Joel is his brother Graham, who has contributed his vast creative talents to A Journey Home and several other Franklin Springs projects. These two home educated brothers are shining examples of young men flourishing in their giftings, having been afforded the freedom to develop career expertise at an early age.

The older children of the film’s director were eager to brave the New York chill of an April evening to savor Niagara Falls after the wedding reception…

The younger children of the film’s director were eager to brave the chill of Lake Ontario on their way home through Canada the following day…

The director of the film (and his wife) arrived home thankful for their family’s friendship with Joel and his family and his new bride. May the Lord richly bless their new home!

On the Franklin Films side of our office, we are doing more projects for one of our valued clients, The Gideons.

Below is a shot of another man whose life was radically transformed when he was introduced to the Word of God - while he was in federal prison.

Here’s an excerpt from a recent piece we did for The Gideons. We count it a great privilege to work alongside this life-changing organization…

Once upon a time (last weekend), a church family of Tennesseans travelled to Birmingham, Alabama to witness a glorious, elegant, richly inspiring courtship wedding. After basking in the marriage ceremony along with 650 other celebrants, the Tennesseans convened for a gathering, at which time their Mr. Pine gathered children from several of the church’s families for a time of, well, “once upon a time"…

The Tennesseans were represented by one of their own as a bridesmaid in the wedding. Below, she’s surrounded by her dear friends from her home church.

Several Franklin Springs personnel were privileged to participate in the weekend, which furthered our resolve to tell stories that inspire and develop God-honoring family life. We know we’ll look back at last weekend with a “once upon a time” fondness. We look forward to sharing other such stories (via DVD) with you soon…

The National Religious Broadcasters annual convention just wrapped up at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. President George W. Bush addressed the group, resulting in a bevy of Secret Service personnel throughout the facility.

While not escorted by the Secret Service, the Franklin Springs contingent did enjoy another group that accompanied them throughout the event…

This group also participated in a video shoot with Attorney David Gibbs (below left) and Doug Mazza (below right), Executive Producer of the new Joni (Eareckson Tada) and Friends television show. Gibbs represented the Schindler family in the Terri Schiavo case.

Stay tuned for more exciting news about Franklin Springs’ upcoming television involvements.
